New interview: Are miracles for today?

Last night, my co-author, Doug Geivett, and I had a great interview with Krista Bontrager and Monique Duson for their podcast, All the Things. We discussed New Apostolic Reformation teachings about miracles in contrast with biblical teachings and the importance of not chasing after miracles, but keeping our focus on the greatest miracle of all---the Resurrection. This is a particularly important message as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, this Easter Sunday.

Some other topics we addressed include:

  • The NAR “Greater Works” teaching (that believers will work greater miracles than Jesus did)

  • The NAR kenosis teaching that when Jesus came to earth, he fully emptied himself of his divine powers. Jesus performed his miracles, not as God in the flesh, but merely as a man fully dependent on the Father and empowered by the Holy Spirit.

  • How NAR leaders have redefined prayer (as “prayer declarations” a.k.a. command prayers, not petitionary prayer)

  • The damage caused in people’s lives by false NAR promises of healing

  • The major divide between NAR teaching and Pentecostal/charismatic teaching
